Environmental Health Engineering addresses all the physical, chemical, and biological factors external to a person, and all the related factors impacting behaviors. It encompasses the assessment and control of those environmental factors that can potentially affect health. It is targeted towards preventing disease and creating health-supportive environments. This definition excludes behavior not related to environment, as well as behavior related to the social and cultural environment, and genetics. This department offers three courses including B.Sc. in Environmental Health Engineering (4-years course, M.Sc. in Environmental Health Engineering (min. 2-years course depending on the Dissertation project, and PhD by Research in Environemtnal Health (3-5 years course). Moreover, the qualified candidates can apply for postdoc at this department.
Occupational Health Engineering is an area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The goals of occupational safety programs are to foster a safe and healthy work environment. Occupational Health Engineering may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment. It can also reduce employee injury and illness related costs. Occupational Health Engineering may involve interactions among many subject areas, including occupational medicine, occupational hygiene, public health, safety engineering, industrial engineering, chemistry, health physics, industrial and organizational psychology, ergonomics and occupational health psychology. In general, Occupational Health Engineering is defined as a science of anticipation, identification, assessment and control of work-related health hazards in order to maintain the health and well-being of employees and ultimately to safeguard the worker and worker community. It is as a strategy not only considers the health of the workforce but also has a significant and positive impact on the quality of products, job motivation, job satisfaction, and the quality of life of the community. In the field of occupational health, all the work related health and safety issues are studied. At present, this departments offers only B.Sc. course in Occupational Health Engineering.
Public Health aims to develop health professionals who are competent to work in healthcare settings with skills specific to public health. In general, the purpose of this program is educating capable staffs to work in the field and giving care to people. Regarding the progress of public health, the Department of Public Health was established with emphasis on active learning, innovation, acquiring new information and skills and giving patients the highest quality of care. This Department offers 2 course, i.e., B.Sc. in Public Health (4-years course) and M.Sc. in Health Education and Promotion.
